Strength In Tough Times

The Christian life is a journey. There was never any promise written in the Bible thats shows following Jesus would always be easy. Tough times come. Bad circumstances just “show” up. Money is scarce, especially here in Detroit. People lose their jobs and people search for jobs. Someone makes fun of you because you are a Jesus follower and sometimes even Christians give you a hard time. Needless to say there will be some point in your life when you need comfort and strength. Jesus is the greatest strength giver. He can and will give you strength for your journey. God’s Word says that our “yoke can be easy, and our burden light”. Think about that. Jesus can strengthen you when times are at their worst in your life. My favorite Bible story example is Paul and Silas in prison. They were stripped, beaten, and thrown into prison for sticking to their guns and proclaiming Jesus. As they sat there in this cold, dark, and nasty  prison, being punished for Jesus, they sang songs with joy! Wow what a testimony! Here is the kicker, you CAN be happy in Jesus, even in times of extreme pain, hurt, trials, and tribulations. If Paul and Silas could rejoice in tough times so can we! Jesus is strength for your journey. Abide in Him.

Many of us have to be reminded that Jesus is with us even in the midst of the storms. Whenever we are lost, we must seek him and he will lead us.

In the past 2 years, I have experienced several deaths in my family. One being my youngest daughter. It is because of my faith in Jesus that I am able to get out of bed every day. I have known for years where my true strength comes from. Simply, Jesus. He has carried me through my storms. My faith in my Saviour is my joy everyday!
